Case study of TB Joshua 21st Century Scribes/Pharisees

Just when we thought 2024 is gonna be a peaceful year on the Internet, the BBC decides to drop a boom-shell , a documentary with a title called the cult of TB Joshua. It has caused a lot of debates and Mayhem with many defending him accusing the BBC of attacking anything good that black people do. 

One of the snitch’s in the documentary is a man who claims he was very close to TB Joshua, his deputy for that matter. He explains that the man wanted the white people to pay for what they did to his ancestors through slavery. That’s how come his main target were white people. Not only did he want to use them to advertise his brand but to also revenge the ill treatment during slavery. 

To a certain extent he achieved this because he had some white people work for him for close to 10-15 years for free according to the documentary. However others are saying they have always smelled something fishy especially with a lot of controversy that surrounded the man in question. One example is the guest house that collapsed killing over 100 people. 

Personally when something of this magnitude happens I run to the Bible for some answers. According to Mathew 23 vs 1-6, Jesus explains for us to observe and do the good the Pharisees and scribes are performing but not to imitate the bad they do. To be honest the man used to help the poor and preach the word of the Lord. That’s something we can’t deny.  It’s the bad things that have been revealed like rape, abuse, revenge that we shouldn’t imitate. 

TB Joshua was something like a modern day Pharisee and Scribe. Knowledge and being insightful is power, I sure hope this is a lesson to some who like following the papas blindly.
